HOW TO ACCESS CARE FROM NIAGARA WHEELCHAIRS SEATING MOBILITY DURING ONTARIO’S REOPENING

Niagara Wheelchairs Seating Mobility is here to support you safely throughout all phases of Ontario’s reopening plan.

Our clinic is considered an essential Ontario business, and all of our service options are available.

Option 1: In-person Appointments

We are happy to report that all of our staff who interact with clients have received their first COVID-19 vaccination and will have received their second dose by mid-July. Even after vaccination, WSM Niagara staff will continue to do daily screening assessments and wear personal protective equipment. Common areas and equipment are carefully sanitized and we follow Ontario’s capacity guidelines to minimize the numbers in our clinics at any one time and control the flow of people.

For the safety of all of our clients, our staff, their families and our community, in-person appointments can only be booked by clients who:

  • Do not have a fever and/or onset of (or exacerbation of chronic) cough
  • Have not travelled outside of Canada within 14 days
  • Have not come into close contact with a confirmed or probable case of COVID-19 within 14 days
  • Have not come into close contact with a person with acute respiratory illness who has travelled outside of Canada with 14 days
  • Have not tested positive for a COVID-19 infection
  • Agree to wear a mask and follow hygiene protocols

Option 2: Curbside Drop-off and Pickup for Adjustments and Repairs of Devices

As some device adjustments and repairs can be addressed without an in-person consultation, if you’d prefer not to come into the clinic, we have a system in place to support curbside drop-off and pickup of wheelchairs, scooters, walkers and other mobility devices. This process begins with a phone call where you will describe the problem you are experiencing with your device to a WSM Niagara staff member and they will determine if the issue can be addressed without an in-person consult. If so, they will provide instructions for when and how to leave your device with us and when and how to pick it up when it is repaired.

Option 3: Digital Consultations

For clients in need of a consultation with our clinical team who are not comfortable with an in-person appointment, in some cases we are able to conduct a virtual assessment by phone or video meeting. This process begins with a phone call where you will describe the problem you are experiencing with your device to a staff member and they will determine if the issue can be assessed over the phone or a video conference. If so, they will determine the best option for moving forward and schedule a time for the call. During that call, next steps, which could include using our curbside drop-off and pickup service or a follow-up in-person appointment, will be determined.
