As the length of Ontario’s COVID-19 isolation lengthens, we are hearing from a growing number of our Niagara Wheelchairs Seating Mobility clients that need support. Whether it’s a mobility device modification as a result of a change in their body or condition or a device that needs repair, it is important that these issues get addressed in a timely fashion.
Our clinic is considered an essential business in Ontario, and effective today, we are adding some additional service options for clients who find themselves in need of assistance from our team during the COVID-19 isolation period.
Option 1: Curbside Drop-off and Pickup for Adjustments and Repairs of Devices
As some mobility device adjustments and repairs can be addressed without an in-person consultation, we are putting a new system in place to support curbside drop-off and pickup of wheelchairs, scooters, walkers and other mobility devices. This process begins with a phone call where you will describe the problem you are experiencing with your device to a Niagara WSM staff member and they will determine if the issue can be addressed without an in-person consult. If so, they will provide instructions for when and how to leave your device with us and when and how to pick it up when it is repaired.

Option 2: Digital Consultations
For clients in need of a consultation with our team, in some cases, we are able to conduct a virtual assessment by phone or video meeting. This process begins with a phone call where you will describe the problem you are experiencing with your device to a Niagara WSM staff member and they will determine if the issue can be assessed over the phone or a video conference. If so, they will determine the best option for moving forward and schedule a time for the call. During that call, next steps, which could include using our curbside drop-off and pickup service or a follow-up in-person appointment, will be determined.

Option 3: In-person Appointments
When it is safe to do so, we also have the option of scheduling in-person appointments. For the safety of all of our clients, our staff, their families and our community, these appointments can only be booked by clients who:
- Do not have a fever and/or onset of (or exacerbation of chronic) cough
- Have not travelled outside of Canada within 14 days
- Have not come into close contact with a confirmed or probable case of COVID-19 within 14 days
